Applications for positions to begin on July 1, 2009 will be accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  All positions will be filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

At the present time, there are no open positions for 2008.

The following documents must be available prior to the decision to grant an interview; please note that Dean's letters are not available to programs for download until November 1:

Applications must be complete by November 30, 2007.

Completed applications from international medical school graduates (IMG's) will be reviewed.  IMG's need to keep in mind that, in addition to the above, they must have ECGMG certification and hold either permanent resident status or a J-1 visa; Allegheny General Hospital does not sponsor any other type of visa.  Finally, they must have satisfactorily completed or be in the process of satisfactorily completing one year of clinical training in the United States in an ACGME-accredited residency program.

We do not utilize specific cut-off scores on USMLE but rather take all parts of the application into consideration when making decisions to interview.  However, only those applicants who have successfully passed Step 1 on the first attempt will be considered for interview.

Once application has been made through ERAS, the program coordinator will correspond via e-mail regarding the status of the application, including invitations to interview.  Interviews will be scheduled from November through January, excluding the day after Thanksgiving and the Christmas and New Year's holiday weeks; there are no Saturday or Sunday interviews.  Please see our interview calendar for details and available dates.

We do not offer an integrated clinical year, however, applicants are encouraged to apply separately to either of the hospital's Medicine or Surgery programs for a Preliminary (clinical) year position.  Interviews for such applicants can be scheduled on the same day as radiology to minimize travel costs.

For information regarding eligibility requirements for certification by the American Board of Radiology, please visit their website.
